Renovations
Richard Massey, director of communications for the Mount Sequoyah Retreat and Conference Center, speaks inside the Sarah A. Clapp Memorial Auditorium on the center's campus in Fayetteville. Officials at the center plan a fundraiser to renovate the structure which was built in 1939.
Officials at the retreat center want to renovate the auditorium to serve as a performance space for the area in an effort to renew the soon-to-be 90-year-old center and bring more visitors. They estimate it will take $1 million to make the auditorium modern and comfortable.
