The year of the dragon

Skorch, the dragon mascot of the Fayetteville Public Library, greets children during a program about Chinese New Year at the library. The coming year is the year of the dragon in the Chinese tradition.

I love Skorch. The fact that it's the year of the dragon this year made his visit all the more fun. The program, though interesting, didn't provide many opportunities for me to get a photograph that was going to be strong enough to lead the paper. Skorch coming in was great and perfect for the story, given that he is a dragon. I'm just glad it's not the year of the snake.
